The idea

Big imaginations. Stronger voices. Confidence for real life.

This isn't just about teaching kids to act. Activities draw on acting, storytelling, improvisation and practical communication exercises, so young people can explore ideas, collaborate, solve problems and practise real-world skills — in a space where trying something new is the whole point.

Storytelling

The five-minute story

Set a timer for five minutes and tell a story with a beginning, a problem and an ending. Bonus: the ending has to surprise you.

~5 minroughly 6–9, roughly 10–12, roughly 13–17

Imagination

Three-object character

Grab three random things nearby. Invent a character who owns all three. Who are they, and why do they carry these?

~10 minroughly 6–9, roughly 10–12

Expression

Same story, three moods

Tell the same short story — like losing a shoe — three times: excited, worried, then grumpy. What changes in your voice and body?

~10 minroughly 6–9, roughly 10–12, roughly 13–17

Persuasive speaking

The imaginary product

Invent a product that doesn't exist yet. Give it a name and explain in 30 seconds what makes it special.

~15 minroughly 10–12, roughly 13–17

Self-presentation

Your confident introduction

Write a three-sentence introduction that sounds like you. Say it out loud three times, changing one thing each time.

~10 minroughly 10–12, roughly 13–17

Collaboration & improv

The unexpected ending

With a partner, create a tiny scene (four lines each) that ends in a way neither of you planned.

~15 minroughly 10–12, roughly 13–17

Teamwork

Team problem-solvers

Your group is stranded on a fictional island with a rubber duck, a ladder and a cookbook. Agree on a plan to get home.

~20 minroughly 6–9, roughly 10–12, roughly 13–17

Thoughtful communication

Rewrite the awkward moment

Think of a made-up awkward conversation. Rewrite it so one person responds more thoughtfully. What did they do differently?

~15 minroughly 13–17

For parents & guardians

More Than Acting. Skills for Life.

Kids & Teens uses creative practice to help young people explore communication, imagination, self-expression, teamwork and real-world situations.

  • Encouragement rather than perfection.

  • Practice rather than pressure.

  • Creativity rather than rigid scripts.

  • Respect for each young person's own personality.

  • Adaptable to different ages and comfort levels.

This is creative coaching, not therapy. It isn't designed to diagnose or treat mental-health conditions, learning differences or other health concerns.

Hi, I'm Rae-Ann

I started out as an actor, and I've spent about fifteen years teaching and coaching — including about seven years running my own studio, with as many as seventy students at a time. I've also spent years working in media, marketing and sales.

Teaching showed me the best part of performance isn't getting everything perfect. It's helping someone discover what they can do, giving them a safe place to practise, and watching them start to trust themselves. Kids & Teens brings that together with the real-world communication skills I use with adults every day.

Questions

Questions parents often ask.

Let's talk

Let's find the right fit.

Programs are being shaped around what families actually want. Tell us a little about your young person and what you're hoping for — private coaching, a small group or a workshop — and we'll go from there.

Based in Calgary and southern Alberta — ask about online options.

Preferred format

Please don't include your child's full name, school, birth date or photos — we don't need them to get started.

Inquiries come from a parent or guardian. Consent and safeguarding arrangements are talked through with you before any sessions take place.
