Intergenerational Communication at Work
For HR leaders, managers, team leaders and multigenerational teams
Different generations. Different perspectives. One stronger team.
Today's workplaces bring together people with different experiences, expectations, communication habits, and ideas about what good work looks like. Those differences can create friction. They can also become one of a team's greatest strengths.
Better Together helps teams bridge communication gaps, challenge assumptions, and work more effectively across generations.
The problem
Sound familiar? These moments can happen between people of any age — and usually, nobody involved is trying to be difficult.
A manager thinks an employee needs more initiative.
The employee thinks expectations were never made clear.
One colleague sees direct feedback as helpful.
Another experiences it as unnecessarily harsh.
An employee prefers a quick message.
A colleague wants a conversation.
A manager interprets questions as resistance.
An employee is trying to understand the reasoning behind a decision.
Different doesn't automatically mean difficult. But without understanding, small differences can become big misunderstandings.
The workshop
Better Together is a practical, interactive workshop that helps employees, managers, and leaders understand different perspectives and communicate more effectively in a multigenerational workplace.
This isn't about memorizing stereotypes or putting people into generational boxes. It's about recognizing assumptions, understanding how messages land, and learning how to adjust your approach without losing your own voice.
Participants explore realistic workplace situations, practise new responses, and leave with practical tools they can use in everyday conversations.
Participants learn to
Try it yourself
Two people can experience the same workplace moment and walk away with completely different interpretations. What happens when we get curious before we jump to conclusions?
Scenario 1 of 3
A manager tells an employee, “I need you to take more ownership of this project.”
What might the employee be thinking?
Most people don't need another presentation telling them to communicate better. They need a chance to recognize what isn't working, try a different approach, and see what changes.
Acting Like It brings performance-based learning into the workplace. Through guided discussion, practical exercises, and actor-inspired scenarios, participants can rehearse real conversations in a supportive environment before taking those skills back to work. No acting experience needed.
Because knowing what to say and being able to say it in the moment are two different things.
